[linux] Vreemd probleem bij formatteren USB HD

Ik heb een USB HD waar ik een ext3 bestand systeem wil hebben. Als ik
'fdisk -l' geef krijg ik o.a.:
    Disk /dev/sdh: 2000.4 GB, 2000398934016 bytes
    255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 243201 cylinders
    Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
    Disk identifier: 0x001ad486

       Device Boot      Start         End      Blocks   Id  System
    /dev/sdh1               1      243201  1953512001   83  Linux

Ik geef dan:
    mkfs.ext3 /dev/sdh1 -L Backup

Dit eindigt echter in:
    Writing inode tables: done
    ext2fs_mkdir: Attempt to read block from filesystem resulted in short read while creating root dir

En als ik dan fdisk -l geef, blijkt de schijf op een ander device te
zitten:
    Disk /dev/sdg: 2000.4 GB, 2000398934016 bytes
    255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 243201 cylinders
    Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
    Disk identifier: 0x001ad486

       Device Boot      Start         End      Blocks   Id  System
    /dev/sdg1               1      243201  1953512001   83  Linux
