[linux] touchpad uitzetten?

Twee geniepige details maken de overstap naar Linux voor mijn vrouw 
minder succesvol dan gehoopt.

Het eerste is het touchpad. Dat wordt tijdens het typen soms aangeraakt, 
waardoor het venster gaat scrollen en de muiscursor aan de haal gaat. 
Echt vervelend wordt het bij een onbedoelde 'tap', een touché korter 
dan 180 ms. Dan springt de cursor naar de muiscursor en zit je 
plotseling op de verkeerde plaats te tikken.

Het lukt me niet om daar wat aan te doen. 

Een PS2-muis zou het touchpad moeten uitschakelen maar er is geen 
PS2-ingang.

De Synaptics-touchpad-driver laat zich heel uitgebreid fine-tunen, maar 
we hebben geen Synaptic-driver in xorg.conf. In plaats daarvan zijn er 
drie Wacom-devices: stylus, eraser en mouse. Die drivers zijn bedoeld 
voor een grafisch tekentablet maar sturen bij Ubuntu 6.10 kennelijk het 
touch-pad aan.

Maar nadat ik alle Wacom uit /etc/X11/xorg.conf had weggehaald blijft 
het touchpad het gewoon doen!

Heeft iemand enig idee wat dat kan zijn of hoe ik het touchpad wel uit 
kan schakelen?

Hierbij xorg.conf. Het is wel degelijk de conf-file in charge want als 
ik er een tikfout is maak loopt X muurvast.
