Nee de verklaring is simpeler:

NOTES
   This page describes ls as found in  the  fileutils-4.0  package;  other

Een wat oudere manpage. Distro: Slackware 10.2
Overigens klopt die verwijzing naar fileutils-4.0 niet; zo ver loop ik
ook weer niet achter. Slack 10.2 heeft coreutils-5.2.1.
Slack 11.0 heeft coreutils-5.97 en ik zag dat daar de ls manpage ook
behoorlijk gestript is. :-(
