Recente file(1) versies doen daar ook een gooi naar. Althans hier vang ik 
de volgende varianten van een text file:

"txt","ASCII English text"
"txt","ASCII text"
"txt","ISO-8859 English text"
"txt","ISO-8859 text"
"txt","Non-ISO extended-ASCII text"
"txt","UTF-8 Unicode English text"
"txt","UTF-8 Unicode text"
